Launch a tenant rights portal for any city
Digital ProductSafeSpace is a civic infrastructure project for renters. The template gives you everything you need to launch a tenant rights portal for any city: the full source code, the database schema, the content framework, and the deployment guide. Currently running in 16 cities across 6 states.
The architecture is GitHub Pages (static frontend) + Supabase (database + auth). Zero monthly cost for low-traffic deployments. The city configuration template lets you set up a new city in under an hour — you fill in the jurisdiction-specific legal information, emergency contacts, and local resources.
The know-your-rights content framework gives you a structured template for documenting tenant protections, eviction procedures, security deposit rules, habitability standards, and retaliation protections for any jurisdiction. The complaint filing workflows guide tenants through the process of filing with local housing authorities, code enforcement, and tenant unions.
The emergency resource directory template covers legal aid organizations, tenant unions, emergency housing, and crisis hotlines. Every city has a different set of resources — the template makes it fast to document them correctly.
Version 1 is the production codebase as deployed to Boulder, CO and 15 additional cities. Frontend uses vanilla HTML/CSS/JS for zero-dependency deployment.
